Since the entire interior of the aquarium is covered in gorgeous green tile. After editing, I utilized it as a text mask for the band name, show location and date.

An aquarium employee gives a lake sturgeon a scrubdown in the Belle Isle Aquarium, sometime around 1920.

I found this image while exploring the public domain images associated with the aquarium and instantly knew I had to utilize it in some way. While I didn't anticipate it would be the focal point of the design, the off-putting nature of someone scrubbing a huge fish just made sense.

Revenge of the Creature poster, public domain. After deciding to include the "back from the dead... again" tag line, I wanted to include more old Hollywood horror design elements like the "All New Thrills! Shock! Suspense!", since this would be the second leg of the My Chemical Romance tour.

Behind The Design

One thing I really enjoy doing when designing posters, is utilizing elements that are public domain. And since the Belle Isle aquarium opened in 1904, there are quite a few incredible images that are public domain. Another public domain element I utilized was from a "Revenge of the Creature" poster.
